If it was rooting at the nodes I would be inclined to call it Glycine microphylla. Though the flower clusters suggest a hybrid.

I'll probably be in the same place in the next few days. If I can find it again, I'll check the root system.

Not so much the root system as whether the stems root where they touch the ground. In any case, if you have a permit. It would be a good idea to take a specimen to the botanic gardens, or, better, the Black Mountain herbarium.
