The cockies pull off a branchlet of flowers, take one bite, drop it, and go on to the next. Don has collected a barrow load after about an hour.

This species is coming up as a local native. I'm inclined to think that in the ACT and possibly whole of the CNM area they are all planted

Fixed. It is not listed in the 2017 ACT Plant Census. http://keyserver.lucidcentral.org:8080/euclid/data/02050e02-0108-490e-8900-0e0601070d00/media/Html/Eucalyptus_sideroxylon.htm

This tree was planted. Bearing in mind the above comments all the E. sideroxylon trees within HGW were planted by ACT City parks about 60 years ago when Hughes suburb (the first of the 'new suburbs') was first developed after all the sheep were persuaded to go home! There are only 3 "original trees" in HGW.

The iron barks round the lake. eg Attunga Point, would have been planted after the lake was filled.
