Could be a non-biting midge of the family Sciaridae.

Kim, I wouldn't have a clue but Peter Cranston suggested that of the 3 midges:
(a) a female non-biting midge (family Chironomidae)
(b) a female biting midge (Ceratopogonidae)
(c) a second female biting midge (Ceratopogonidae)
b and c will feed on you given the chance, a is likely the female of the male that was inside your door and another at the might outside. Imatures are bloodworm found in water containers and gutters - same places as mossies. Pete

It is not possible to distinguish between the two from this rather poor photo Kim, should I delete it?

I'd leave it up. Another sighting may come along and help us nail this one. Kim.
