User's notes

Two of these bugs flying closer together. Large wings open out while they fluttered about. I lost them before long as they moved on..

I have downloaded the original photos, cropped them and added them back to aid in identification.

It is an Antlion Lacewing, Myrmeleontidae sp (family), possibly Glenoleon falsus.

Glenoleon pulchellus looks to be a better match, with the black-white-black bands on the hindwing showing through the mottled forewing.

Are they pretty common? I haven't come across a bug like this before up at Mt Majura. Thanks Kim.

Aaron, they're probably more common than we think, but they're near-invisible when clinging to a twig, and not all that conspicuous when flying. I've only ever seen them singly, I think you were lucky to see two.
