The red dorsal glands on abdominal segments six and seven suggest Lymantriidae,

How long is it?
Do you have it in captivity Alison, to rear to an adult moth?

Only 20% of the named Australian moths have known larvae, so most caterpillars can only be identified by rearing them to the adult moth.Amateurs can make a real difference in this regard.

Thanks. I actually don't usually see the White Cedar moth caterpillars around this late in the year.
