User's notes

Only these two plants growing on the side of a track - each with two flowers (so i presumed C. carnea). Have added a couple more images since originally posting to help with ID.

Just checking if this is indeed C. carnea? Posted it last week but might have slipped through unnoticed ;)

Thanks

Glen

Glen, you might want to have a look at the comments Tony Wood has made on this sighting: http://canberra.naturemapr.org/Community/Sightings/Details/3382259 . Since this site allows for five images per sighting you would help those confirming the identifications by providing images of a wider range of plant characters, unfortunately the characters of importance can often depend on the plant being identified.

Thanks for the reply Ken. I hear what you are saying about the photos and the ID - I will add some more images and see if that helps. The reason I thought it might have slipped through unnoticed is when I have posted orchid images before that were hard to identify (C. fuscata v C. carnea - as in the example you link to above) Tony has left a comment about this issue -
http://canberra.naturemapr.org/Community/Sightings/Details/3382364. With no comment or note at all on this siting I just wasn't sure where it might be up to. I'll add some images that show the two plants with two flowers each (so not sure it would be C. fuscata) and hopefully that will help with an ID.

Cheers

Glen

The two flowers and the thickish green stem distinguish this from C. fuscata. For all orchids, it's helpful to have pictures of the whole plant, including leaves.
