Quite a few groupings on this tree. What is the symbiosis between these and the ants? I saw very young nymphs swarmed with ants, then as they grew the ants were still present as well as with the adult.

The bugs suck sap from the stems and their waste secretion from the other end is lapped up by the ants, which protect the bugs.
