User's notes

Colony found by T Dowling. There was much debate as to whether this was D. pardina or D. nigromontana. The conclusion was that even with the book we were still not confident enough to distinguish the two, so decided on D. nigromontana based on location.

D. nigromontana can be quite variable in the flower markings. However, I am inclined towards D. pardina, given the dark stem, the backs of the petals are marked, and the labellum side lobes are not rounded as in D. nigromontana. D. pardina is occasionally found on Black Mountain and occurs on The Pinnacle. What do you think Cath?

I have seen many dark-coloured plants like this in Aranda, often growing right next to what I would consider typical nigromontana, and with every variation in between nearby. I have always thought of them as nigromontana.
