Not sure about this one. The general appearance, pale colour, relative lack of markings on the flowers, yellowish base to the callus and early flowering time (mid-Oct) suggests to me that this could be D. punctata rather than D. dendrobioides. What do others think?

Hi Tony.
As a means of comparison, I have a Diuris dendrobioides sighting at nearby Tuggeranong Hill, with a good photo, for 30 October, see

Thanks for the comment Michael. I have seen the ones at Tuggeranong Hill. The photo posted here looks a bit different, eg the lateral sepals are not so long or slender, maybe just a bit past its best, although 15 Oct still seems a very early flowering time.

I'm struggling with it Tony, I think it looks a bit more like this one than D. dendrobiodes: http://canberranaturemap.org/Community/Sightings/Details/26808

Good comparison Aaron. It does look very similar and the dates are very close.

I have confirmed this as D. punctata after discussing with Jean Egan, based on the shape, colour of the labellum and early flowering date. If so, it is a great find as previously only known in the ACT from a small population on Mt Ainslie.
