Apparently 1 snake was being seen in this area for a few days. When I first saw them they were lying apart. When I came back 15 minutes later foreplay was happening and went on for most of the afternoon. I'm guessing the male had been waiting for the female to emerge from her brumation site and hadn't eaten for a while?
