Having seen the plants, was there anything of note that led you to P. hillmanii rather than P. effusum? I believe P. hillmanii is meant to be much hairier than P. effusum. From what I can see in the photo I would be inclined to call this P. effusum as it doesn't appear to be as hairy as I would expect for P. hillmanii.
@MattM Hey mate , I am actually not totally across the ID of P.hillmanii. I’ve only come aware of the plant recently.
Although the Ranger I was with was inclined to call it P.hillmanii since he thought it was quite hairy and he did note that the seeds were densely packed ( this could be because the plant is quite young).
There are a few other plants around that area. I can have a closer look at them tomorrow possibly.
Only if you are in the area. P. hillmanii is an annual whereas P. effusum is a perennial, so we can also make an ID based on how difficult it is to pull out.
