User's notes

Patch of 100% Chilean Needle Grass. The spread of this high priority Weed of National Significance transforms grassy woodland and threatens volunteer work in the area. The 4th photo shows a site located just a few meters to the north where Friends of Mt Majura (FoMM) carries out a trial to manage CNG; the photo shows from left to right: a strip of CNG sprayed with Glyphosate, a strip sprayed and mulched with some native grass seeds sown before mulching and, close to the edge of a drainage line, a strip sprayed, mulched, direct seeded and planted with native tube stock in the past 2 years. Mapped with Field Map Not-treated Weeds 2024/25. FoMM mapped CNG in the area with Field Maps in 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24 and earlier; we also recorded with Canberra Nature Map many times. Government promotes the spread of CNG probably unknowingly (despite all mapping and recording) by slashing at peak seed stage.
