This looks like L.fraseri to me. Tree forming, with broader leaves and pubescent hairs on the leaf lower surface. Rob who ID'd this one in the field?

@Tapirlord No one really, I thought at first it was some sort of banksia. I thought it looked a bit different from other Lomatias I had seen. I thought the leaf was probably a bit wide for myricoides, but the toothed margins weren't pointy enough for ilicifolia (and it is probably the wrong area for this as well). I hadn't considered Lomatia fraseri, but I think you are right, it does look like L fraseri.

Possibly suckering after the 2020 fire that burnt the plants of the BB summit to a frazzle, so not a tree yet.
