I think Anestia bend the hairs over to form an ellipsoidal network, but agree Lithosiini in general like to attach larval hairs to their cocoon. Can you take it into protective custody to get a photo of the moth that emerges?

@donhe what is the best way to remove cocoons from bark without damaging them?

Best would be a pair of nail scissors, cutting each side of the cocoon and then underneath the pupa, till it can be peeled away with tweezers . Mind the pupa doesnt fall out.. Try to avoid touching the hairs: they cause irritation in some people.
