Mapped with Field Maps. Area is used heavily by walkers, runners, bikers, horse riders, dog walkers with dogs on and off-lead etc. Small patches with a few CNG tussocks have spread enormously over three LaNina years and are now threatening the rehabilitation work of the ParkCare group Friends of Mt Majura; the group monitored, photographed, described and sent letters to draw the attention of the land manager. Half a year ago a contractor sprayed approximately 5% of the CNG in that area. FoMM reported that the original spread was from a well-meaning resident who slashed behind backyard fences in the nature reserve and who spread the grass clippings into the nature reserve. FoMM reported this in the Hackett newsletter more than a decade ago and to staff of TAMS/ PCS/ CNP since then. Staff of the land manager or fire unit recently slashed a 50 m outer asset protection zone in the nature reserve behind backyards with peak seeding CNG. This will ensure an even wider spread into higher conservation sites. It is all good to have glossy management plans and goals and targets to reduce and contain transformer weeds; unfortunately, the unresourced goals and targets are not mysteriously achieving themselves.
