User's notes

Growing alongside M23 Federal Highway towards Gungahlin intersection, + spreading extensivly inside the Nature park. This could be a species roadside planting here? But not a local ACT species ? Shrubs up to 2m tall, Alternate phyllodes (leaves), oval, pointed ends, silverish green colour, around 25mm long by 8mm wide, Flowering branchlets are Yellowish, bigger branches are brown-reddish. Leaves are not aromatic. Large number of these plants, several hundred, for a distance of 1km +

I tend to agree with Silke's id; A. buxifolia is a species that naturally occurs in ACT ; see the ACT Census of Vascular Plants https://www.anbg.gov.au/cpbr/ACT-census/vascular-gen-alpha.html
However, I'm afraid it is not naturally occurring on Mts Ainslie Majura.

Great ! that's Good news, I also saw this Acacia described as Endemic to ACT in M.Cosgrove's Guide Book for ACT Native Plants.
Once confirmed, I will update my comment above 😊 One less potential Woody (weed) to worry about.

Well that is the tricky thing: even if plants are naturally occurring in the ACT that doesn't mean that they occur naturally everywhere.
Some examples: species that naturally occur only at high altitudes, or riparian species that grow along the Murrumbidgee River, or species that grow in certain soils of certain geological origin (Black Mountain)...
So you can have a species that is foreign on Mt Majura but listed "local" in the ACT Census of Vascular Plants.
If there are A buxifolia plantings at Fed highway and they are the source of invasion and the invading Acacia change the (best) Grassy Woodland of Mt Majura on the north slope into something else (ie another ecological community) I would definitely consider them as invading weed and make an effort to remove them... they would be no better than Cootamundra wattle.

OK, that's thought-provoking, Thanks Waltraud, I will await further comments from people with more expertise (than me) on this. There is Definitely a Large Population of this species at this site and (moving into) Mt Majura Nature Park there.
