User's notes

Very large fungus, and seemed to be edible - at least by the fauna around the place

These are a 'gilled' relative to the 'boletes'. They are mycorrhizal, a soil fungus associated with plant roots, (myco - fungus, rhizal - roots - fungusroots!!) and so will have an a mutually beneficial relationship with nearby plants, most probably the trees.
