Hi Jane If your ID is correct, this would be only the 2nd report of this rare species since 1995. See: https://canberra.naturemapr.org/Community/Species/Sightings/216 and https://canberra.naturemapr.org/Community/Species/Sightings/216?ViewMode=Detail
It looks ok to my amateur eyes, but are you confident of your ID?
Hi Mike, I am no expert on ID of Cyperaceae, so am not claiming 100% confidence. I collected a specimen to press for the Herbarium. However, that would take a while to get ID confirmed, so - given your comment - I will see if it is possible to get this formally ID in the next day or so.
Specimen collected ; and the first time i have ever seen this species.
Herbarium advises that this is actually Schoenus apogon, which they consider to be quite a variable species; based on hypogonous bristles and glume characteristics.
