New recorded location of this threatened species on Tinderry Range

User's notes

Not sure if the id is right, but it looks very close? Photo passed on from a neighbouring bushwalker, along the southern ridge of the Tinderry Nature Reserve, near Gulwan. Might have to hike back and get more pics and better coordinates.

A closer photo of a flower face on and side on if possible, and one of at least two leaves on a stem, would be very helpful. This photo blurs when I try to blow it up. I don’t think it is a Dampiera. Possibly a violet.

Thanks Betty. Not sure why the CNM page doesn't allow as much zoom on the upload as I can do on my desktop. A size limit somewhere. But the image is pretty dodgy to start with, and it's the only one he took. I found a couple of spots that had somewhat clearer flowers and somewhat clearer leaves/stems, so have cut them out and added them to the sighting, I think. Doesn't help there's something else growing through the middle of it! Do they help you?

Clearly I need to get out there and take more posed photos!

It was not a problem with the zoom but the fact that I could not zoom very much before the photo went fuzzy. With high resolution photos there is no problem.

I can see now why it was IDs as Dampiera fusca. This species is well known in the Tinderries after fire, though I have not seen photos before where the plants are so close together.

Thanks Betty and Michael! It's right next to our property, at similar altitude (and hit by the same fire), so we're really hoping to find more around there. And get better pictures...
