This case was well above my height, placed on the underside of one of the main branches coming off the trunk.

Hi Roger, I have a copy of your book after your recommended in a comment on my last sighting. Unlike in your book and my previous sighting further up Red Hill, this one was by itself. Sorry, my only other photo was very blurry. Thanks for the comments from you and Kim. Cheers

Found something similar on a planted eucalypt in my neighbourhood in Brisbane. Ended up being a Eurybrachidae (planthopper) egg sac.

They do look very similar except that Lacnodius is generally in colonies. There are other pictures of Eurybrachid egg sacs on the internet and of the laying process. So I confirm ther latest ID.
