It has been 27 years since I started exploring Rob Roy Res., and at the beginning weeds such as this were absent. So it is worrying to see this one, as well as the Pistacia chinensis and Fraxinus sp. nearby, growing in the same creek. Rob Roy has lots of rare plants, including some in this vicinity, and needs to be looked after. But it is rugged and difficult to access in many places. With access being on foot to this location, which is quite a distance from any roads, dealing with weeds such as these will be a continuing problem.

User's notes

In Rob Roy Reserve, in a small creek, in the hills to the east of Banks.

This looks like a popular shrub/small tree that is used a lot in hedges.

Worth cutting and dabbing - but not a rampant spreader
   17 Feb 2019
Cutting and dabbing is not possible for me, I'm sorry.

Thanks Michael, I'll pass on the location to the reserve ranger

Could make it a woody weed removal project with Fraxinus and Pistacia in Nearby Sightings. Are they restricted to the creek or are they more widespread - like on Isaacs Ridge?
   19 Feb 2019
At the moment they are just in the creek. I also found some willows in the creek lower down near the flood control "dam".

Hi Michael - I'm planning a trip to this location to cut & dab these 3 x species. How many trees all up? Would handsaw & loppers suffice? Thanks

Hi Adam
You can see the size of the other 2 plants at:
Other Tree Fraxinus sp. (An Ash) on 12 Jan 2019
and
Other Tree Pistacia chinensis (Chinese Pistachio) on 12 Jan 2019
A handsaw & loppers would do the job.
If you were going all that in you may as well walk along the creek, where you might find a few more along the way.
There are some willows down near the flood control dam as well:
Other Tree Salix sp. (A Willow) on 16 Feb 2019
and
Other Tree Salix matsudana ‘Tortuosa’ (Tortured Willow) on 16 Feb 2019
Thank you very much for your efforts.
Michael

Hi Michael - I did this job today. I also walked a bit further (200m) up the creek and one of its main branches until Vibernum petered out.
