The damage is probably the result of a gall forming fungus see record http://canberranaturemap.org/Community/Species/10592. This looks like Acacia Ulicifolia but I can't see any stipules which is distinctive. Were all the leaves less than 2cm or did they go to 4cm as in genisitifolia
I suspect it is a very late flowering Acacia genistifolia, which has ridged branchlets, angled at the tips. I can see the hint of ridges. However, the photo no banchlets with tips. Acacia ulicifolia, which has cylindrical branchlets.
The Acacia part of my new key is finished. Using that it came out to Acacia ulicifolia because of the hairy branchlets. Acacia genistifolia has hairless branchlets.
