Why would they want to plant that? It grows to 40 m high in the wild, and naturally grows in rainforest north from west of Coffs Harbour. It does reasonably OK in the botanic gardens here, on an east facing slope at higher altitude than the local frost hollows. Elsewhere it has to be cherished
I only included the sighting because I was surprised that they had been recently planted amongst eucalypts in a native park area. There are mature silky oaks in Hughes planted as street trees probably 50-60 years ago.
