Hey Richard,

It looks pretty short and squat to be the A. verticillata. Though it looks like tops have been knocked down, has it been mowed/grazed? Any seed heads?

I am really not sure about this one Justin. It certainly hasn't been mowed and there isn't a great deal of grazing pressure in the area either. I have seen quite a few of these plants through the Molonglo and Kama over the past few years and I have never seen them in seed.

Yeah, I think it's something different. They should be holding on to their seed stems still if not mowed and would seed every year. Doesn't have that classic erect form either. I don't know what it is though!

Richard as you pointed out this had us both fooled and is actually Tricorne elatior, a tricky one for us.
