In the Canberra area, it is out of season for Acacia implexa (too late) and Acacia melanoxylon (too early). Perhaps wait till it has ripe seed. Arils (funicles) on A. implexa are white with a few folds at one end. Those on A. melanoxylon are pink to red, folded twice around the seed. The characters I can see in this photo do not differentiate between these two species.

Betty this is an old photo of Michaels taken in September 2014, which I think is the flowering time of A. melanoxylon
