This is a Gentian (Chionogentias) of which there are four species in the ACT. In order to tell them apart we need a close up of the leaves and flower stem. It is probably cunninghami but I can't be sure.
Michael, Just wondering where else these Gentians have been spotted in the ACT? Are they common? They were everywhere up above Thredbo and towards Kosciuszko, stunning little flowers, I really liked them.
Aaron, Gentiana baeuerlenii is listed as endangered in the ACT and hasn't been seen for at least ten years. There are several other ACT species but all have a pretty restricted distribution in the higher areas of Namadgi. Chionogentias cunninghamii seems to be the most common of the gentians in the ACT.
