Lovely shots Michael! Pretty sure I saw one of these opening up last spring, but when I went back, it had unfortunately died off and never fully opened, so I was unable to confirm. Very keen to spot some of these this spring...
Almost certainly this is Caladenia (Arachnorchis) atrovespa. Quite common in local reserves. Used to be called C. dilatata, but this is not found in the ACT. Can be confused with C. phaeoclavia.
Thanks Tony! We had both C. dilatata as well as Arachnorchis atrovespa in the database. I've now merged them both into A. atrovespa and updated this ID. Cheers
