Bungonia Field Trip

Posted by trevorpreston

Hi Nature Mappers,

The Bungonia Park Land Managers Board has asked me if NatureMaprs would come out and report species in their crown reserve so I thought I might make a day trip for a few keen Nature Mappers on Sunday 17th November.

We will start at Bungonia town hall for the community Hall breakfast at 9am which raises money to restore the hall (big breaky is $12) and after a talk from local Anne Wiggin we will head into the Crown Reserve and report everything we can.

Then we will head into Bungonia National Park for a look at Bungonia Gorge and more Nature mapping.

Then we will stop at Pomaderris Nature Reserve, then Souths TSR, and then perhaps to the Gorman Road Reserve in Goulburn.

Mappers can either meet at my place in Goulburn at 8.30 and get a lift with me, or meet at the Bungonia town hall at 9am and road train from there. Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, and hat.

If interested please email me at trevor.preston33@gmail.com

Hi Trevor, I'd be interested if someone could offer me a lift from Canberra - Belconnen. Willing to share petrol costs. What is the terrain at the gorge?

Glad to hear you are interested Harrisi, LPadg and Alison.
This will be on Sunday 17th November, and terrain is fairy easy in all sites depending on where you want to wander. We are certainly not going into the Gorge, and there is really no difficult walking on this trip.
Sorry I am unable to pick you up from Canberra Alison but I hope someone can give you a lift!

I really really want to say yes. If I can make it, I can give a lift to @AlisonMilton as I'm in the belco region, too.

I’d like to come please. I’ll be coming from Kangaroo Valley so would meet you in Goulburn.

I would also like to come please, thanks for the opportunity! I'd be meeting you at bungonia and might possibly have to head back earlier than the group depending on family commitments that day.

Hi Trevor, trip sounds amazing, though is it mostly aimed at expert mappers?

Sduus I'm very happy to have new or expert mappers along.
We will spend an hour or more at each site, and everyone will have autonomy at each site to wander alone, or in groups before meeting back to go to the next site, so there is plenty of opportunity to spend time with myself or other mappers to learn about the local species or about tips for photographing.

Trevor, thanks for the invitation and I will be attending, at least until the Pomaderris NR. I'll be heading back to Windellama afterwards as we are doing building work at our conservation site (SCR380).
