Kambah backyard native grassland garden species

Posted by MatthewFrawley

These sightings are from my Kambah backyard native grassland garden, which I created in 2010 and left in 2023.  The garden consisted of mostly Kangaroo Grass or Themeda triandra and Common/River Tussock Grass or Poa labillardierei.  Other grasses in the garden were Barbed-wire Grass or Cymbopogon refractus, and various Wallaby grasses.  One Red-anther Wallaby Grass or Rytidosperma pallidum also appeared in the last year.  Other plants included Spiny-headed Mat-rush or Lomandra longifolia, Black-Anther Flax Lily or Dianella revoluta var. revoluta, Clustered Everlasting or Chrysocephalum semipapposum, Sticky Everlasting or Xerochrysum viscosum, Nodding Chocolate Lily or Arthropodium fimbriatum, Tall Sedge or Carex appressa, Juncus sp. and at least three different Bluebells or Wahlenbergia sp.  Existing overstory plants that bordered the garden were a Callistemon sp. and a Leptospermum sp.
