A known general location but all sightings of this species in our region are significant and keenly sought
User's notes
Just added some photos from Jan 2021 to confirm the population is still in the area - 2 sightings this month of different individuals; one very large and one quite small, so hopefully a youngster.

This is only ~850m from a 2014 report and even less from one in Feb 2018. And there was another recent one about 6km away to the SE. Several different observers involved so it implies that the absence of reports from elsewhere in the region with CNM reports is because the Nanima vicinity has one of the only remaining populations of V varius in the ACT region. Well done 81mv. I hope you and other landholders manage to retain this species where everyone else has lost it, probably due to clearing of shrubs and trees; predation by foxes, dogs and cats; removal of termite mounds; and direct killing.

In separate correspondence 81MV said "we just measured against the markings in the tree - the goanna was about 180cms"
