Acritoscincus platynotus (Red-throated Skink)

Common name: Red-throated Skink. SVL 80mm.

Red-throated Skink is one of one of three three-lined (Acritoscincus, formerly included in Bassiana) species in Australia. Three-lined skinks belong to the Eugongylus Group of skinks. There are two three-lined species in the Canberra region.

Red-throated Skink like other three-lined skinks has a distinctive pattern. It sometimes has a bright red throat.

Distribution: Likely widespread in Canberra region but pattern of distribution is unclear.
