I've tried very hard to match it but with no success. Blastobasis seems the most probable but I found no match. The salt and pepper dark colour is very distinctive. I found similar moths that occur outside of Australia (Monochroa conspersella) but that can't be it. I think that I have seen this one before but I could not find it amongst my sightings.
