Here is a tentative guess: the plant was within 10m of what looked like a now abandoned homeless bush camp. Perhaps that person frequented Black Mountain and carried some seeds over?

It’s a bit too much out of the way for that and it’s a pretty intact piece of bush, so there would have been no reason to plant anything. The camp was really only a tiny space with a leftover sleeping bag and a few plastic bags.
