Single remnant vegetation tree on edge of treed area in grassy woodland, immature buds up to 18 per umbel counted, mature nuts up to 12 counted, adult leaves alternate, but opposite on some young tips in the canopy (see 4th photo), upper and lower surfaces the same colour, no juvenile foliage seen.
Euclid key got to E. dives - second guess would be E. radiata subsp radiata
Yes the lanceolate to linear opposite sessile juvenile leaves point to a E.radiata subspecies. But location is wrong for narrow-leaved peppermint. Maybe the sessile opposite leaves are not juvenile leaves in this sighting.
I just looked In ALA and I reckon this is the same tree as Australian Native Plants Society, Canberra Region - 20201112-24368 record which has lat and long very very similar, from 2009-7-9/2011-8-10. Also looked at the distribution for my second guess and can see that makes the second guess unlikely.
Hm, I haven't considered E. radiata; the location would be wrong. If the tree was planted it must have been long time ago i.e >> 50 years . Quite unlikely? I took photos of E. dives - so I thought - in Mulligans Flat / Goorroyarroo many years ago; unfortunately my old camera didn't have GPS so I can't download photos. Perhaps a photo of the whole tree / low branching would be good?
