Hatched at home! The larvae drill a hole in a eucalyptus twig about 10mm long and 3mm wide and feed on eucalyptus leaves. They are pale pinkish nude colour with black markings and sit the twig perpendicular to the surface they are on - see https://canberra.naturemapr.org/sightings/4510480.
Adult is about 10mm long. At rest it hold 2 legs straight in front and 2 straight perpendicular to its body. Wings form a peak which look like an upside down V from the back. Orange face without an obvious “nose”, thin black antennae without fluff or fringe. Dark brown collar which forms a triangle down its back. Wings are solid yellow except the tips. Wings don’t appear to overlap much, if at all. The tips of the wings look a bit wispy and have iridescent plum/burgandy scales. There is a black line between the yellow and plum, and a dark brown costal stripe from the shoulder to about half way down the wing.
