This is a submerged aquatic plant, found in shallow to deep (2m +) water. Such plants are generally overlooked in routine surveys, so the species is rarely observed and even more rarely collected. As of late 2023, there were no herbarium specimens from south-east corner of NSW. In the ACT, the most recent herbarium specimen is dated 1968.
