hi Barb great that you find the time to map the weeds in that area. I suggest to ignore for the time being herbaceous weeds such as Verbascum except the Serrated Tussocks and concentrate on woody weeds such as Firethorn, Hawthorn, African Boxthorn; I hope there are not many left of the latter which I thought to have removed many summers ago. The cleared area is classified as Grassland which is of course a joke; the steep slope was open forest before cleared for stock grazing; with it was never suitable for grazing with its steepness and traversing drainage lines - a fact that Ingwerson et al raised in their 1974 study of the "Vegetation of the Ainslie - Majura Reserve".

I've decided that the things I thought were African boxthorn are actually Hawthorns... still more areas to check, for woodies, especially in those deep gullies. No more Cootamundras that we did not know about seen as yet.

good news reg Cootas Barb - perhaps there are some more in area east of Ted noffs which has mature Cootas on campus.
