@waltraud, don’t you get complaints that “wattle is our national emblem” and shouldn’t be removed? I know Acacia pycnantha golden wattle is the national one but but many people just think ‘wattle’. Even A. pycnantha is extending its range in the ACT and could be potentially invasive.

No, so far no complains reg removal of Cootamundra Wattle on Mt Majura; but our fellow Parkcare group the Mt Ainslie Weeders had quite aggressive objections... Cootamundra invasions on east slope of Mt Ainslie change the grassy woodland into something else. So much need for education plus management would need to consider bird habitat - not easy.

Removal has occurred in Mount Taylor Nature Reserve where it was shading out known PTWL habitat.
