What a lovely colony. At least two L. (Australictus) species are known to nest in rotting wood and possibly all members of the subgenus do so. From my observations, the holes were usually vigorously defended, but some returning females were allowed in, suggesting that each hole was occupied by more than one female. I would be interested in what happens in this colony.
