I believe the female is the rose-cheeked female from last year's nearby hollow (rose feather near eye on left-hand side). The male has a white feather close to his eye. This nest has been visited a lot recently (unsure if same pair), so will continue to monitor, and will note if the male retains the white feather. The hollow has been worked at consistently over the past three years (that I've observed), but has not been used for nesting. Two days ago a pair of gang gangs visited the nest, with the male perched on the edge and dipping his head into the hollow, but no deeper. As his antics were accompanied by growling, I assuming a possum was occupying the hollow - perhaps the reason for no successful nesting.
