Viburnum tinus has been found in increasing numbers in nature reserves by landcaring volunteers in the last 5 - 10 years. Sightings and removals have been reported but V. tinus is still sold and widely used for landscaping in the ACT region. The same is true for Photinia, the berries of which birds now find palatable and spread in their droppings. Reporting these garden escapee species on CNM is helpful as volunteers and rangers toil to begin this new cycle of protecting the biodiversity of the territory's essential open spaces.
