User's notes

20 mm. This moth was reared from an Arctiinae sp. caterpillar which I had found back in March. Although I never photographed this individual when it was a caterpillar, it was identical to this: https://canberra.naturemapr.org/sightings/4429411

I see the suggestion that this Arctiidae family based on the caterpillar but there is no photo provided. I am not convinced it is P. saleuta based on the shape of the adult and the lack of detailed forewing markings to match it to that species. I am inclined to think it is Noctuidae (family) based on its shape, particualrly the thorax. So N. nigerrima would fit, but again there is no easily visible detail on the forewing to conclusively match it to that species. I am inclined to think its Proteuxaoa (genus) but again very little detail of the forewing markings are easily evident to be sure.
