Friends of Mount Painter are well aware of the infestations of Cobblers Peg all over Mount Painter. We have been removing plants, including bagging seeds, for the last three years but it is beyond us to cope with all that is there. As far as we can, we prioritise removing plants from higher conservation areas and near paths where people and dogs may pick up seeds. We can't do anything to prevent kangaroos from spreading the seeds which they have done very effectively. Some spraying has been done by the reserve's ranger and one of our members, especially in the denser infestations near the summit. The bottom line is that Cobblers Peg are now part of Mount Painter's weed flora. We urge those working on nearby reserves to take them out as soon as they are found. We missed the first ones on Mount Painter which appeared in a little visited part of the reserve and now they are permanently with us.
Thanks Sarah - removed one plant from red hill the other day - I worry about Parks and infrastructure vehicles moving Cobblers Pegs between reserve. My brother had a place near Bowral with a lot of Bidens - it is a horrible weed to have to remove - I wish your group well
