Very sad after spotting a Goanna by the side of the road to discover it was dead, head covered in ants. Goanna was about 1m long or a bit more, but small looking. Very embarrassed to admit I forgot to note the location, somewhere along Boboyan Road.
Hi Christine, This is a Rosenberg's Goanna. Thanks for stopping, and thanks for recording it. A few hours later I happened to be passing and collected this one for research! I took photos with my phone, so location would be recorded. Also I can check the photos I took of its left and right face against a database of face photos. Some of its liver will be used for toxin research, some teeth and bones to research ageing methods, and the remains offered to the Australian National Wildlife Collection. I will see if I can correct your location but I may have to create a new entry.
