This is pretty clearly Senecio diaschides, and does not really resemble the other plants that we have called Senecio microbasis. Personally, I am suspicious of all three sightings.

Not clear that it is S. diaschides to me. Leaves not lobed as described in Flora of Australia and shown in gallery. Should revert to Senecio sp.

I do agree with S. diaschides here. The leaves aren't always lobed very noticeably at all. I've seen the species plenty of times and would also call this one S. diaschides

Thanks Luke, glad to have your view here. Barb, I went and checked my images and it seems that the upper leaves can be more or less entire in this species, while those lower on the stem are usually toothed. This plant was photographed pretty late in the season, hence we are looking at mostly upper growth, but if you look at the original images you can see lobes on some of the lower leaves. I stand by my original statement that this is S.diaschides.

So I might be able to imagine I see a lobe or two on a couple of leaves in one of the photos, but it is very different to eg https://images.ala.org.au/image/details?imageId=ddd669ac-1992-44fa-9ff5-0caae10aad2f taken in the Kambah pool area. Another sighting Senecio diaschides (Erect Groundsel) taken a few months earlier near a gully in the same Buetts block area also does not have lobbed leaves as far as I can see in the images.
And I cannot see the Diagnostic Feature of "the precocious leafy axillary growth" mentioned on Flora of Australia.

Right, uhhh so the other sighting you reference is not Senecio diaschides. Rather it is Senecio quadridentatus I believe. Again, most of the lower and larger foliage has died back on this plant leaving upper growth; which even in the kambah pool plant i more or less linear without lobed leaf margins.
