@michaelb Sorry to bother you but not exactly sure what has happened here, came here looking for Clematis microphylla but can't seem to find it (or add it either). :)
Hi Michael, I'm very sorry but haven't actually described the issue at all here, whoopsies. This sighting is should be confirmed as C.aristata but is the second result in sightings for C.leptophylla and doesn't appear under C.aristata at all (even though it has been confirmed accordingly). Perhaps I made a misclick and the system got confused?
Sorry for the waste of time with this one. I'm curious as to why C.microphylla is a synonym of C.leptophylla as I was under the impression they were different species (though closely related). Vicflora has both taxa as does Plantnet. https://vicflora.rbg.vic.gov.au/flora/taxon/02cf469b-6581-449d-a754-a745dbaf066a https://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&search=yes&namesearch=Clematis&dist=ST https://vicflora.rbg.vic.gov.au/flora/search?q=Clematis
I think they are separated on the number of leaflets (9 in microphylla, and 18-36 in leptophylla), I was under the impression that we only have leptophylla in the ACT and that microphylla is a coastal species but I could be wrong. :)
It is now on the page for Clematis aristata. I must have been delayed in the maintenance system. I have got it in place now. Re C.microphylla vs C.leptophylla - we had them separate a long time ago. I think it was Betty Woods who decided on the current approach.
Thank you, Michael :). Might check with someone re the clematis, I have just gotten back from Victoria and was told that several plants I photographed were C.microphylla.
