The barameda is a predator and has distinct spines of the front two pairs of legs

Thanks, Roger, I always get excited when I come across a katydid, it can be so easy to forget many of them are powerful predators. I learned that the hard way when a mountain katydid somehow got ahold of my finger near Bimberi, albeit one of the prettiest insects I've come across to date!

Raspy Crickets (Gryllacrididae) are the worst! They can bend their head around in whatever position you hold them and bite, hard!

Oooh, I'd love to encounter a raspy cricket in the flesh, but perhaps a little bit of distance would be beneficial for all parties! :)
