thanks for the record rosie; I removed quite a bit of Berberis aquifolium from this area but haven't had the time to follow up... there are so many weeds - quite overwhelming.

it might be hard to pull out - my experience is that it grows from suckers so if bits left in ground it may regrow.

Yes But with a mattock and wet soil - you can effectively get rid of this plant - cutting and dabbing all stems is pretty tedious

my friend Sabine and i went on a mission one day to cut and dab Berberis in the grassy woodland nature reserve east of MacKenzie street; we stopped counting at 1000....
Our concern is that it grows in nearby gardens which provide a continuous source.
