Sadly this bee is carrying parasites. Sorry, didn't have my macro lens.

To me they look more like orchid pollinia, not parasites. Bees carrying pollinia have often alerted me to the presence of orchids before I saw the flowers themselves.

Ahh. That would be a happier explanation. Yes there were orchids present: Dusky Fingers and Glossodia major.
