The specimen you photographed is gravid, carrying an egg cocoon. The copulatory organs are situated towards the posterior of the body in this genus. It would be interesting to follow this "pregnancy" to see whether the cocoon was expelled ventrally via the gonopore, or dorsally through the body wall. If the latter, this will show in the post-partum planarian as a slight lateral displacement of the median dark stripe. To date I have not seen this in P. ventrolineata, suggesting that the egg cocoon is expelled via the gonopore.
